Freedom of the Arts in Education Individual freedom is defined as “the absence of restraint on our ability to think and act for ourselves.” In America today, many students seem to be missing that freedom when it comes to the arts in education. When schools experience budget issues, art programs are usually the first to be cut. The arts have many cognitive and social benefits that students could be lacking if they do not have access to them in their education. Through the history of the arts, information about funding, and exploration of global methods and benefits of arts education, we hope that this website communicates how important the arts are for individual freedom in education. |
